Variable Data Printing

Variable Data Printing or VDP is a method of printing that uses software to change the output of a digital printing press to personalize each printed piece with unique information from a spreadsheet or database.

The most basic level involves changing the name featured on each print, much like mail merge. More complicated variable data printing uses 'versioning,' where there may be differing amounts of customization for different markets . Text and images, for example, might change for certain groups of addresses based upon which segment of the market is being addressed.
