Animated & 3D VIP Event Badges
Lenticular printing is a fascinating technique that combines digital technology with optical illusion to create compelling images of motion and 3-D. Because of the unique properties of the technique, it can create images that are impossible to achieve through conventional printing methods.
It all starts with a standard digital file that we carefully prepared to work with the lens material. This material is a plastic made up of Lenticules or tiny lenses that give the technique its name. Once the digital file is ready, it is printed directly onto the lens material to create the lenticular effect. This effect works by using the natural properties of the lenses to create a moving image. As the viewer looks at the image from different angles, the lenses bend light in different ways, creating the illusion of motion or depth.
Animated FLIP Lenticular Badges
FLIP Lenticular is two distinct images that animate from one image to the other.
FRONT:
- Send us two images (one for each FLIP image).
- Artwork must be prepared to the desired size using one of our templates.
- Minimum font size: 12 pt (sans-serif).
BACK:
- Traditional full-color printing
DESIGN TIPS:
- DO NOT use copy smaller than 12 pt. – Copy smaller than 12 pt. (sans-serif) will not be legible.
- AVOID using white or very light colored backgrounds when designing. This will produce a ghosting effect that will show 10% to 20% of both images at the same time.
- Vibrant colors and full ink coverage work best at producing a clean flip from one image to another.

3-D Image Lenticular Badges
3-D Event Badges are created from your layered Photoshop file.
FRONT:
- File must be provided as a layered 300 dpi Photoshop file
- Artwork must be prepared to the desired size using our templates
- Seven Layers of Depth (Max) – Logos and text share a layer called the "Focal Point." (the Focal Point layer is 100% in focus). Arrange the other six layers behind and/or in front of your Focal Layer.
- Minimum font size: 8 pt (sans-serif)
BACK:
- Traditional full-color printing
DESIGN TIPS:
- DO NOT use copy smaller than 8 pt. – Copy smaller than 8 pt. (sans-serif) will not be legible.
- AVOID backgrounds with solid colors or horizontal stripes. These two situations do not provide a depth reference to the observer.
- As an alternative to a solid background, add visual interest, bold elements or vertical stripes to your background.
- Your text, logo and product, should be on or near the "Focus Layer"
- Overlap Design Elements – As shown in the example, elements are overlapping each other providing a frame of reference. The more 3-dimensional your layout looks when it is flat, the more amazing your 3D will appear once we create your lenticular piece.
